Aston Villa sources deny agreement story as Fabrizio Romano drops Friday morning update

Aston Villa have not reached an agreement or even opened talks to sign Fenerbahce left-back Ferdi Kadioglu, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Sky Sports Italy journalist took to Twitter on 12 April to deny reports claiming that Villa were close to signing the 24-year-old Turkey international.

The Villans are enjoying a good season as they’re in contention to qualify for the Champions League and are among the frontrunners to win the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Via Twitter, Romano wrote: “Aston Villa sources deny any story about agreement or even negotiations for Ferdi Kadıoğlu.

“There are no talks ongoing between Villa and Fenerbahçe despite reports in the Turkish press.”

Kadioglu unlikely to join Aston Villa as of now

Turkish outlet Aksam reported on 10 April that Villa wanted to sign the defender who is available for £25.6million this summer.

Kadioglu is only 24 years old, indicating that he still has room for development and can potentially become a long-term solution for Aston Villa’s full-back position.

His age also suggests that he can adapt to the Premier League’s physical demands and could become a key player in the years to come.

By securing Kadioglu’s signature, Villa would be making a statement about their ambition to compete at the highest level, which could help attract other high-profile players to the club in the future.

However, as things stand, the move is unlikely to be on the cards and they have to look at other defensive options over the summer.

They are in contention to qualify for the Champions League and will need a deeper squad if they manage to achieve that goal.
