Aston Villa told to complete Mario Hermoso signing after recent Fabrizio Romano reveal

Bryan King has urged Aston Villa to sign Mario Hermoso after a recent Fabrizio Romano reveal.

The ex-Villa scout feels that the Atletico Madrid defender is a UEFA Champions League quality player who can help Unai Emery’s squad next season.

It has emerged that the 28-year-old will be a free agent this summer with talks over a new deal between the player and his current club not advanced (via Fabrizio Romano, 27 March).

Hermoso has been widely linked with a move to Villa Park, with reports even suggesting that an offer is already on the table (via Sport Mediaset, 24 March).

King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – feels that this would be a positive step forward for Villa, and has backed the club to complete the signing.

“To be competing for the signatures of these players, that is a huge step up for Villa after recent years.

“If they are to reach the UEFA Champions League next season, this is the profile of player they must be looking to sign.

“They will have a lot of games to play next season, so they will need quality players in their squad.”

Mario Hermoso would be a statement signing for Unai Emery at Aston Villa

Emery will need all the help he can get next season if Villa are to qualify for the Champions League.

Playing in Europe’s elite competition would put extra pressure on his players, with very few of them having any experience of football at this level.

Bringing in players with that experience could be crucial to ensure that Villa can compete in multiple competitions.

Hermoso ticks those boxes, and would certainly represent a smart signing for Emery.

In other Aston Villa news, Emery will have had one player in his office after what he did recently.
