Aston Villa: Nicolo Zaniolo to exit Villa Park – but he’s already said goodbye to Galatasaray

Aston Villa aren’t set to make the loan move for Nicolo Zaniolo permanent in the summer with Serie A interest rife, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian signed for the Villans on loan from Galatasaray in the summer and has failed to have a great impact in B6.

As a result, it seems that his stay in the Premier League is going to come to an end with a move back to his homeland looking likely.

In a report by Gazzetta Dello Sport, they have suggested that there is interest from Serie A which suits Zaniolo’s desires.

On that, they said: “Zaniolo already feels like an ex at Galatasaray, and not only because he said goodbye to Turkey to try the adventure in England. But if you are 24 years old you always want to be a leader, every match, also to aim to carve out an important space for yourself in the national team. He has only played 736 minutes on the pitch. Few compared to what Zaniolo probably expected to experience in the Premier League.

“He misses Serie A, he left it after 94 appearances and 13 goals, all with Roma. And he wants to go back, to relive the family atmosphere of tactical football in which with his bursts between the lines he can make the difference again. And to have fun. Fiorentina and Napoli have started the first surveys.”

Should Aston Villa sign Nicolo Zaniolo permanently?

It must be said that with Zaniolo scoring just two goals in his spell with the Villans, he hasn’t been a true success in the Premier League.

He has scored two important goals for the club in their mission to try and achieve Champions League qualification.

Late equalisers against Sheffield United and West Ham United saved two points for Unai Emery’s side where they would have lost.

One thing that Villa fans do like about him is his desire and the chaos that he brings given that he has 7 yellow cards in 23 matches [FotMob].

According to Fbref, he registers in the top 1% of all midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues for certain stats per 90. This includes 3.11 shots, 3.73 progressive carries and 6.71 touches in the opposition penalty area.

Although this sounds positive, these stats have been highly inflated by a general lack of minutes. He causes a lot of carnage when he comes off the bench.

Alongside Jhon Duran, the chaos twins may only have a limited time left together.
