Aston Villa told to get rid of Philippe Coutinho and sign Sheffield United ace Ollie Arblaster amid speculation

Aston Villa could benefit from signing Ollie Arblaster from Sheffield United while selling some “dead wood” in the summer, according to Ty Bracey

Rumours in recent weeks have suggested that the Villans could look to make some youthful additions in the upcoming transfer window.

Most recently links to Arblaster were reported on 1 April from the Daily Mail Online who suggested West Ham are also interested in him.

Now Bracey has admitted that he would be happy with the signing of the 19-year old should Villa make sales in the window.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I expect us to do a bit of business in the middle but I think a player like that is a credible link just because of age. Someone who has a little bit of learning to do and has some good players around him he could learn from.

“I expect to see some outgoings. You know, Coutinho still plays for Villa, Dendoncker is still a Villa player. We need to get the deadwood off the books if they’re not going to stay.

“A link like [Arbalaster] I’d be absolutely down for, someone young with bags of talent and ready to learn it’s exactly what we need to find in the market. We’re going into Champions League football, it’s equally as important that we get those proven players as well.”

Should Aston Villa sign Ollie Arblaster?

As Bracey said, there are some players which Unai Emery is sure to want rid of come the end of the season.

With Dendoncker joining Coutinho and Morgan Sanson on the loan list in January, there are instantly three midfield options on the chopping block at Villa Park.

This will leave a hole in the Villans’ squad which will need to be added to by additional signings over the summer.

Arblaster would represent a good piece of business should Villa be able to pay an appropriate price for the teenager.

He started the campaign on loan with Port Vale before being recalled. The England youth international has gone on to make three Premier League starts and impress for the Blades.

It is unclear as to how much he would cost and given he is a boyhood Sheffield United fan there is a question whether he would even want to leave.

There will be other options on the market but Arblaster appears to be one already considered by Monchi and Emery.
