Aston Villa: Doctor reacts to Leon Bailey comment on Ollie Watkins injury
Aston Villa attacker Leon Bailey was wrong with his assessment of Ollie Watkins’ injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert reacted to the comments made by Bailey after Villa secured a 4-0 victory over Ajax in the Conference League on 14 March.
Despite Watkins starting and playing the full game just a few days later, the Jamaican said that it looked really bad, sparking fears of a serious injury.
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:
“He took a hard knock so a bad-looking cut isn’t all that surprising.
“Hard for me to say why Bailey might be saying it looked really bad – could be the sight of blood, his own aversion to cuts, etc.
“I always take what players and managers and all non-medical personnel say with a grain of salt.
“Watkins is at 100 per cent and this was just a knee-jerk reaction from Bailey but he was wrong about it being a serious one.”
Aston Villa faced a momentary Watkins injury scare
Watkins had to be withdrawn after 33 minutes and that’s usually a bad sign about things to come.
However, it did not seem anything serious and he even played for England against Brazil on Saturday, 23 March.

The Englishman has been in exceptional form this season for Villa, scoring 16 goals and providing 10 assists in 29 league games.
In other Aston Villa news, a doctor has issued an “unfortunate” response as footage has emerged of Tyrone Mings with an update on his current situation.
