Aston Villa: Win-win situation shared as Moussa Diaby international development emerges
Moussa Diaby receiving a call-up to the France squad is a “win-win” situation for Aston Villa, according to Ty Bracey.
The 24-year-old’s inclusion came as a surprise for many after he was drafted into the squad following the injuries suffered by Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman and Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku.
The French winger hasn’t started a game for Villa in the Premier League since 30 January against Newcastle United, having suffered a dip in form since his bright start to life at Villa Park following his big-money move from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.
Bracey believes the recall will give Diaby a confidence boost and can only be a positive for the Villans as long as he returns from the international break fit and healthy.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I think he got called up after Kingsley Coman and Christopher Nkunku got injured.
“If he is the best-suited player to come in, we are never going to knock an international call-up.
“Every international manager works a little bit differently, some do it by merit and others do it on international form.

“But I think it’s warranted and it’ll do him great for his confidence, so it does us a favour and, obviously, he’s getting some minutes as well.
“It’s a win-win for me as long as he comes back fit.”
Moussa Diaby looking to get back into Aston Villa lineup
It’s probably been a disappointing past couple of months for Diaby as he wouldn’t have expected to be sitting on the bench as much as he has recently.
But he has shown flashes of his quality at times during this season and will no doubt back himself to earn his place back in the starting lineup under Unai Emery.
As Bracey points out, his recall to the France squad should provide him with some confidence and he’ll be hoping to make an impression in the games against Germany and Chile.
