Ty Bracey reacts to what he saw about Aston Villa in the media after what happened
Aston Villa coming away from West Ham with a point wasn’t a bad result in their bid for Champions League football next season, according to Ty Bracey.
Villa drew 1-1 with the Hammers on 17 March after Nicolo Zaniolo’s goal on 79 minutes cancelled out Michail Antonio’s first-half opener at the London Stadium.
The Sky Sports Premier League Twitter page posted on 17 March questioning whether Unai Emery’s side were “distracted” by their Europa Conference League campaign.
But Bracey disputed those claims as he insisted that the Hammers are “no pushover” as they are also going in pursuit of European football this season.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “There is a lot of talk in the media that we’re distracted by European competitions.
“Look, we’re going to West Ham away, it’s not an easy fixture, it’s hard for the fans to be vocal and be the 12th man in that huge stadium.
“West Ham are no pushover, they’re a very good team and they’re well in the mix. They’re not in fourth place, but they’re well in the mix for European football for next year.
“Three points is just as important to them as it is to us. I’m happy to take a point away at West Ham.
“Would I have liked us to get three points at West Ham? Of course I would. But a point at West Ham isn’t anything to grumble at.”
Aston Villa facing tricky run of fixtures
It doesn’t appear to be the case that Villa are distracted by their European exploits, they’ve just had a bad run of injuries and have faced some difficult games.
But as Bracey points out, West Ham are a decent side and currently find themselves in seventh place in the Premier League, so it’s never going to be an easy place to go.
Emery will be confident that if his side can pick up points on the road and manage to get some consistency back at Villa Park, then they will be well-placed to finish in the top four this season.
