Aston Villa: Moussa Diaby exit already on cards in new transfer verdict at Villa Park
Aston Villa will get rid of Moussa Diaby if they are going to sell anyone, according to former Villa Park scout Bryan King.
The winger moved to the Midlands club from German side Bayer Leverkusen last summer in a club-record £51.9million deal [The Guardian, 22 July 2023].
Diaby has made 41 appearances in all competitions this season, registering tallies of seven goals and eight assists.
Speaking to Villa News, King said: “If they’re going to get rid of anybody, I’d imagine he’d be one of them, because at the moment he’s contributing very little.
“You can imagine what kind of money he’s on. £7million or £8million a year. It’s alright if you’re a goalkeeper, but he’s not.
“You’ll soon see if any of the big German clubs come in for him. There’s Borussia Dortmund, Leverkusen, Leipzig, Bayern Munich, Borussia Monchengladbach.
“But I can’t see them paying £52million for him, and Villa are going to want their money back. Maybe Spain, Italy.”
Aston Villa should definitely keep hold of Moussa Diaby
Villa manager Unai Emery has built a superb squad, and Diaby is undoubtedly a key part of it, even if he has failed to live up to expectations in more recent times.
The winger started the season very brightly following his move from Leverkusen, but his goal involvements have dried up in recent times.

He has often found himself behind Leon Bailey in the Villa Park pecking order, but Diaby did clinch the crucial assist for loanee Nicolo Zaniolo as Villa drew 1-1 with West Ham United on Sunday (17 March).
