Aston Villa: Roony Bardghji to quit Copenhagen amid Unai Emery transfer pursuit – Sources

Aston Villa target Roony Bardghji is ready to quit FC Copenhagen this summer, Villa News has been told.

Bardghji is one of European football’s hottest young prospects.

The 18-year-old has already played 72 times for FC Copenhagen’s first team, scoring 15 goals and providing one assist in that time.

He came off the bench to score an 87th-minute winner for his side in their memorable 4-3 victory over Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League earlier this season (8 November).

Bardghji has scored seven goals in the Superliga during the 2023/24 campaign with Copenhagen third in the standings, three points off league leaders FC Midtjylland.

As previously revealed by Villa News (11 January), Unai Emery’s side are one of several Premier League clubs who hold an interest in the forward, having previously sent scouts to watch him in action.

Now, a recruitment source with links to Danish football has exclusively revealed to Villa News that Bardghji is ready to quit Copenhagen this summer.

Could Aston Villa sign Roony Bardghji to play under Unai Emery at Villa Park?

Villa News has been told that “the time is right” for Bardghji to move on from Copenhagen, with the winger keen to take the next step this summer to progress in his career.

Bardghji has been with Copenhagen since he was young, emerging through the ranks at the club.

He featured 21 times for the Under-19s, scoring seven times, before breaking into the first-team picture.

Bardghji has already represented Sweden at Under-21 level five times, scoring once across those appearances, and he could now be set to play his football under Emery.

As per HITC (5 March), Villa are one of four Premier League clubs “pushing hardest” to sign Bardghji, who could cost £20million.

Bardghji would add to Villa’s exciting attacking options at the club, with the likes of Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins impressing this season.
