Ex-Aston Villa employee wowed by ‘the new Dwight Yorke’ after Villa Park development

Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey could attract interest from “bigger clubs,” according to former Villa scout Bryan King.

The verdict comes amid the news that the attacker has landed a new contract at the Midlands club [official Aston Villa website, 12 February].

The Premier League outfit did not reveal the length of the deal for the Jamaica international, who joined the club in the summer of 2021.

Speaking to Villa News, King said: “He’s a good buy. He’s like the new Dwight Yorke, coming from the Caribbean.

He certainly causes a lot of interest, he’s scored a few goals, his crossing from wide positions is good, and of course his pace is essential. Villa are a big club, but I think he will create interest from bigger clubs.”

Bailey shining at Aston Villa

Bailey has not always shone at Villa Park, with the winger struggling at times in the Midlands following his move from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2021.

Unai Emery even strengthened out wide last summer, with Moussa Diaby brought in by the Spaniard, also from Bayer Leverkusen.

But his arrival has seemingly sparked Bailey into life, with the Jamaican keeping Diaby out of the starting XI thanks to his dazzling displays.
