Aston Villa injury news: Doctor reveals 18 month blow for Boubacar Kamara
Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara is unlikely to be at a 100 per cent for the next 18 months, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The Frenchman is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury in the 2-1 loss against Manchester United on Sunday, 11 February.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein claimed that he has sustained an ACL rupture and reviewing the footage, it’s something that the injury expert concurs with.
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News: “This is a prototypical ACL rupture and given the timeline for elite footballers, he will be ruled out typically for seven to nine months but considerably longer for return to performance at a 100 per cent.
“I’m looking around 18 months for that.
“Given the mechanism of the injury, what Ornstein is saying appears to be the case.
“That position with the knee going inwards on a planted foot and spontaneous cut is the prototypical non-contact ACL rupture.”
Kamara’s absence a huge blow for Aston Villa
The 24-year-old has been an everpresent player for the Villans and until the last few games, was consistent with his performances too.
He made 20 league starts under Unai Emery this season and had an impressive pass accuracy of 89.3 per cent, per WhoScored.
His absence will leave a huge void in midfield and it perhaps may be time for someone like Youri Tielemans to come in for him and show why he deserves more game time.
