Ty Bracey shares West Brom FFP admission after Aston Villa transfer completed
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Ty Bracey believes it’s “smart” from West Brom to offload their younger players because it helps with financial fair play (FFP) after Keilan Quinn has joined Aston Villa.
The Express and Star reported on 2 February that Villa have completed the signing of the 16-year-old from their West Midlands rivals for £1million.
The newspaper said an official announcement by either club is yet to be made, but the deal for the midfielder was understood to be finalised before the 11pm deadline on 1 February.
Bracey believes signing talented youngsters is a good way for the Villans to prepare themselves for the future as those players will have the chance to develop in the academy at Bodymoor Heath.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I think it’s just a coincidence that there’s a few coming in from West Brom. They have a good academy system and they have some bright prospects coming through their ranks.
“It’s smart from them because it keeps the money coming in from their end and, obviously, for FFP purposes, it’s great for them to sell the younger prospects because it’s all profit.
“I have no qualms about where a player comes from. I know we do a lot of business from our buddies down the road, but they just have a good academy system and they are getting them ready for us.

‘Future-proofing the club is important for Villa as well. We’ve got a great academy system at Bodymoor Heath and I think it’s important that we keep developing players.
“We’ve got state-of-the-art facilities and I think it’s really important that we keep getting these talented youngsters in.
“If they are people that end up fighting for the badge and coming through to the first team then great, but if it’s something where they end up moving onto another club and we earn a profit, it’s good business at the end of the day.”
Keilan Quinn could be one for the future at Aston Villa
It could be a few years before Villa fans get to have a glimpse at Quinn in the first team as he is still very young and is only just getting started with his career.
But the midfielder is believed to have been a highly-rated talent within the West Brom academy setup, which is probably why the transfer fee was so high for him.
He follows in the footsteps of several young players who have come through with the Baggies to make the switch to Villa Park over the past few years.
In other Aston Villa news, Unai Emery may have contacted his former club after a Villa player exit has been confirmed.
