Aston Villa finalise £1m Keilan Quinn signing from West Brom, still no official announcement yet

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Keilan Quinn from West Brom for £1million, according to Express and Star.

The West Midlands news outlet shared (2 February) that an official announcement by the club has not been made yet but the deal was understood to be finalised before the 11 pm deadline on Thursday (1 February).

However, there is no official word from either club or the 16-year-old midfielder about the confirmation of the deal.

Rival trade

The Athletic journalist Jacob Tanswell tweeted on Thursday (1 February) that the highly-rated midfielder will join Villa’s academy immediately.

He added that the Villans will pay the Baggies around £1million to sign the 16-year-old, with the idea being that he will join their scholarship phase next year.

And this is yet another marquee Aston Villa youth steel in the market and it is made all the more sweeter for Villa fans that it is another talent from their cross-city rivals.

However, it is strange that an announcement has been made by both clubs and maybe there could be some legal hurdles to jump through in order for it to be confirmed.

It could well be a factor because Quinn is 16 years old so it won’t be like just any new signing at Villa Park. However, the fact that the deal has been finalised before the deadline, suggests that there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.

What is clear is that Aston Villa have succeeded in gaining another burgeoning young talent from West Brom which goes to show the pull and hold they have over their rivals which may not end for a while yet.

His talent and potential suggested he could have progressed to the first team in the future, making him a valuable asset to the club’s youth development pipeline.
