Aston Villa v Chelsea injury news: Doctor issues Jacob Ramsey update

Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jacob Ramsey may still be reaching a 100 per cent in terms of fitness, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert gauged his minutes since he made his first-team return after last playing Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on 6 January.

In the games against Newcastle and Sheffield United, the 22-year-old has featured 27 and 45 minutes respectively and is available but may not be at his best against Chelsea on 7 February.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

Checks may still be ongoing to monitor his fitness levels.

He’s recently returned to action but has not played more than 45 minutes in a game.

That might be an indicator that he’s not at a 100 per cent yet or it could just be a selection call.

The main thing will be to ensure he doesn’t face any setbacks.

Ramsey can be game changer for Unai Emery

Villa fans are still to see the best of Ramsey this season and Unai Emery will be hoping that he does not suffer any setbacks.

Last season, Ramsey made 35 Premier League appearances, scoring six goals and providing seven assists.

This time around, the Englishman has managed to feature just 12 times in the top flight with only four starts to his name.

There were links over an exit in January, but he stayed put at Villa Park and will be keen on working his way back into the side.

In other Aston Villa news, a first-team player missing the Sheffield United game is also likely to be ruled out against Chelsea.
