Ex-Aston Villa Scout makes Matty Cash prediction after Kosta Nedeljkovic deal
Villa News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over 10 years as a scout at Aston Villa and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and eight years scouting at Everton…
Bryan King believes Aston Villa may not make a decision on the future of Matty Cash until the early part of next season.
The prediction comes after the Villa Park club completed the signature of fellow right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic [BBC Sport, 22 January].
The 18-year-old, who has made 18 appearances for Red Star Belgrade, has returned to the Serbian outfit for the remainder of the campaign.
Speaking to Villa News, King said: “When is Nedeljkovic going to be ready? Hopefully he’ll be in pre-season training in the summer, ready for next season. Will that allow Cash to move on? What kind of money would they get for him? It depends if Nedeljkovic is ready.
“They might even keep Cash and see how Nedeljkovic goes in pre-season and the early part of next season before they decide on what’s going to happen. They’ve just got rid of Leander Dendoncker of course.”
There is plenty of uncertainty around Cash’s future under Unai Emery, with the right-back often playing second fiddle to Ezri Konsa.
That is a major blow to the Poland international given how he was a regular at the beginning of the season, and indeed how Konsa is a central defender by trade.

Nedeljkovic’s impending arrival from Red Star Belgrade could certainly spell the end of Cash’s time at the Premier League club.
