Doctor issues Joe Gauci injury news as Aston Villa transfer update emerges

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa.

Joe Gauici is unlikely to face any short-term concerns as he has reportedly passed his medical at Aston Villa, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert reveals that he had a long-term thigh injury a couple of years ago and that could’ve taken him a while to recover from.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that an agreement has been struck with Adelaide United and that the Australian has passed his medical.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News: “He was out for seven months a few years ago with a serious thigh injury.

The rehab will undoubtedly have been challenging but that’s in the past.

Sounds like he’s two years removed from it and doing relatively well since then so looks to be in the past.

He’s also cleared his medical as per reports and he should be in good shape for the rest of the season just based on that.

Of course, things might change if he picks up something new but that one is not something to worry about.

Gauci is a full Australia international and has made multiple appearances for the Kangaroos.

He has been at Adelaide United for the last four years and now appears to be on the verge of sealing a move to Villa Park.

The 23-year-old is expected to play second fiddle to Emiliano Martinez who’s the undisputed number one for the club.

In other Aston Villa news, a highly-rated player who could be on the cusp of a Villa Park move in the January transfer window is now expected to pass his medical.
