Doctor issues Felipe Anderson medical claim as Aston Villa transfer news emerges
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa.
Lazio attacker Felipe Anderson may fail his medical, but the possibility of that is minute, amid recent Aston Villa links, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that Villa or any club looking to sign the Brazilian will also pay heed to his off-field habits and whether or not they contributed to his struggles for fitness in his Premier League stint at West Ham.
Tuttomercatoweb reported in January that Unai Emery is considering a potential move for the 30-year-old to add to his attacking options at Villa Park.
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:
“Difficult to say if a return to the Premier League will have the same effects because there are so many contextual factors that go into injuries – was it due to the physicality of the league or was he unfortunate?
“What also matters is whether his off-pitch habits changed, if they were an issue in the first place, etc.
“With regards to him failing a medical, there is always the possibility but it will have to be something significant that will see the move falling through at the final stage.“
Anderson made 63 Premier League appearances during his London Stadium days and managed to score 10 goals in the English top flight.
This season, he has turned into a provider, amassing six assists and two goals in 20 league games for Lazio.

With Villa likely to play in Europe next season as well, the 30-year-old may be incentivised to make the switch to Villa Park.
In other Aston Villa news, a Sky Sports pundit has savaged a first-team player and called him “Foolish” after what he did recently.
