Aston Villa: Ty Bracey shares concern as Arsenal make decision on Emile Smith Rowe transfer to Villa Park

We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…

Ty Bracey is concerned Aston Villa could fail again in their pursuit of Arsenal ace Emile Smith Rowe after a move previously failed to materialise.

That prospect appears to have already become a reality after the Daily Mail reported on its website on Friday (19 January) that the Gunners have knocked back approaches to sign the England international this month, with Villa, West Ham and Newcastle United all interested in him.

It added that the North London club have informed those sides that they want the 23-year-old attacking midfielder to stay at the Emirates Stadium.

Bracey believes Smith Rowe is a talented player and will do well if he eventually does complete a transfer away from Arsenal, but he doesn’t know whether that could be with the Villans.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “We got done last time by agent talk. We went in for him and he signed a new contract with Arsenal.

“I don’t know if we need Emile Smith Rowe. I don’t know if he’s somebody we’re looking at if Unai thinks we’re a bit light in that area.

“I’m behind the coaching team and the recruitment team, but I don’t want us to get done again.

“But if he’s not happy with the minutes he’s getting and he wants to play more football, I think he’s a talent and he’ll be good wherever he goes. Whether it’s us, I genuinely don’t know.”
