Aston Villa v Chelsea injury news: Doctor issues Pau Torres update

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa.

Aston Villa defender Pau Torres appears to be a risk for the game against Chelsea in the FA Cup on 26 January, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert assessed his recent record as he was back in action after a minor injury and even came off the bench against Burnley on 30 December.

However, he was nowhere to be seen in the Middlesbrough and Everton games and remains a doubt against the Blues.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News: “I’d assume it was a grade 1 with how relatively quickly he returned initially v Burnley.

He won’t be back to 100% until he has a run of games and consistent minutes so yes, he’s very very likely not at 100% yet.

However, he was then missing from the matchday squads in the subsequent games, which means he still remains a doubt for the next one.

A number of Aston Villa players will be missing the game, including Tyrone Mings, Emi Buendia and Lucas Digne as well who is expected to return around 30 January.

Bertrand Traore is also not at the game as he’s injured and also away on international duty.

Diego Carlos, Clement Lenglet and Ezri Konsa have all been tried and tested at centre-back and it remains to be seen who Unai Emery picks for the Chelsea clash.

In other Aston Villa news, a Sky Sports pundit has savaged a first-team player and called him “Foolish” after what he did recently.
