Aston Villa make bid to seal Morgan Rogers transfer, Unai Emery keen – David Ornstein
Aston Villa have made a bid to bring Middlesbrough winger Morgan Rogers to Villa Park, with Unai Emery keen on signing him in January, according to David Ornstein.
The Athletic journalist reported on 18 January that, while no deal is guaranteed to happen, Rogers is excited by the prospect of joining Emery’s side at Villa Park this month.
Rogers has started 13 Championship games for Boro so far this season, appearing in 25 in total, with two goals and five assists to his name which have caught the eye of Emery.
An exciting prospect
This would be an exciting deal for Villa to get done, having targeted a new winger since the summer window, and Emery clearly likes what he sees in Rogers which is always a bonus.
Having a manager who is able to identify the players he wants, and play a part in bringing them to the club, is a huge boost to the recruitment system at Villa Park and Emery has proved already since joining that he knows what he is looking for in the market.
Rogers is a product of the West Brom academy, although he moved to Manchester City aged 17, before eventually making the switch to Boro last year, so the potential of a move back to the West Midlands could be a factor in his decision should he make the move.

Another boost Villa can take from Ornstein’s update is that Rogers is already excited about the prospect of a move to Villa Park, which always makes the deal that much sweeter both for the player and the fans.
