Nowhere to hide for Aston Villa as investigation likely – Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist, he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Aston Villa.

Dan Plumley has insisted that the footballing authorities will be investigating Aston Villa and Brentford after their Premier League clash on Sunday 17 December.

Ben Mee and Boubacar Kamara were sent off in the clash, and there were numerous scuffles between both sets of players which will be looked at.

The finance expert admitted that there is nowhere to hide for either club, with situations such as these only hurting them financially with potential fines on the cards.

“Again, it’s something that is happening more and more at the minute,” he exclusively told Villa News.

“The reality of it is the authorities will investigate and there is no hiding place anymore because of the amount of cameras that are on in every moment of every game.

If there is something they want to push for, then they will and unfortunately for clubs, that probably means you get hit in the pocket, again, we’ve seen the benchmark recently with Manchester City, £120,000 for failing to control their players and surrounding the referee, so there are instances you can draw upon.

It’s likely the hit will be financial, so it’s one of those things that clubs are having to deal with at the minute and the reality of it is, at some point, if it carries on, you’re going to get charged and fined.”
