Aston Villa defender Alex Moreno injury risk detailed by Doctor
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa...
Aston Villa defender Alex Moreno does face the risk of a reinjury despite recovering from a hamstring injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert has reacted having analysed the Spanish defender’s recent interview where he speaks about the struggles of his rehabilitation programme.
He told Villa TV that it was the worst moment of his career and he was ruled out for six months and returned to the fray in recent weeks.

Speaking about his situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:
“Quite difficult considering hamstring rehabs are tricky in general due to the high demands on them which leads to high recurrence rates of injury so that’s always a possibility.
“Then you add in this was his first surgery along with suffering a setback which led to the extended absence and it becomes extremely difficult, both physically and mentally.
“The latter is especially hard to understand and damaging because you’re not only away from the sport you love and identify with but you’re also not around the team like you’re used to being.
“It can be a very challenging place mentally to keep pushing through.“

Lucas Digne stepped up in Moreno’s absence this season and the Spaniard will now have to win his spot back in the playing XI.
Unai Emery will be pleased to have two top contenders challenging for the left-back role at Villa Park.
Moreno, 30, made his first Premier League start of the campaign against Brentford, over the weekend, and managed to score a goal so it remains to be seen whether or not Digne returns next week as he was suspended.
In other Aston Villa news, Ian Wright has waxed lyrical over a first-team player and has dubbed him “fantastic” after what he did recently.
