Ty Bracey details Aston Villa squad development that will ‘absolutely happen’ under Unai Emery
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Ty Bracey expects younger players to become more involved at Aston Villa under Unai Emery in the future.
The Spaniard has done an incredible job since taking over at Villa Park last year as the club now sit fourth in the Premier League table, just two points behind leaders Arsenal.
There hasn’t, however, been an awful lot of chances provided to younger players under the Villa boss just yet, while some of the most promising academy products – Cameron Archer, Aaron Ramsey and Jaden Philogene – were sold during the summer transfer window.

Bracey believes it’s important for some of the youngsters to be named on the bench every so often, but he recognises that it’s “not easy” for players to adapt to the Premier League and that it takes time.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “The depth in the first team is starting to come through at Villa at the minute and we’re not looking massively weak on the bench, especially with people coming back from injury as well will add to that.
“It’s important that every once in a while, the younger players do get on the bench and get the experience of going with the lads for a game and getting the feel of what first-team Premier League football is like.

“It’s a step at a time, whether they get five minutes or no minutes, just getting that experience of big crowds and the intensity of the Premier League.
“It’s the biggest league in the world, it’s not easy for anybody to walk into the Premier League and absolutely capitalise, apart from the likes of Erling Haaland. So giving them opportunities, I think that will absolutely happen.”
