Injury Expert issues update on Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa...

Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jacob Ramsey is expected to miss the next few games due to a metatarsal injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that it’s been a recurring setback for the Englishman as he aims to return to first-team football.

The 22-year-old picked up an injury in September and has not featured for Unai Emery’s side since then.

Speaking about his setback, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

Ramsey suffered a recurrence of a foot metatarsal injury which is the long toe bone and has been dealing with discomfort in that area.

“With him, the physios will be conducting higher load drills, both on and off the pitch and seeing how he responds.

“He will have lighter sessions as he did suffer a setback and the club will be methodical with his return so he will miss a few more games.

Ramsey has played just 49 league minutes for Villa this season and managed to find the back of the net against Brighton.

The Villans ended up winning that game 6-1 and it was the last time he was seen in action before his injury.

Last season, the Englishman played 35 of the 38 Premier League games which shows just how important he was for Emery.

In other Aston Villa news, a first-team regular will not return to training for the next few weeks as Matt Law issues a fresh injury blow for Unai Emery.
