Nicolo Zaniolo may face brutal Unai Emery axe at half-time in Aston Villa v Luton Town
Unai Emery has built a very strong squad at Aston Villa, with the Midlands club aiming to fight on all fronts over the coming months.
And they have done that well so far this season, going strong in both the Premier League and the Europa Conference League.
Such a strong squad means the manager is able to chop and change things quite regularly, including with his starting XI and then during matches.
And the boss may be forced into a quick change in the club’s meeting with Luton Town on Sunday (29 October), with attacker Nicolo Zaniolo potentially facing a brutal half-time axe.
That is because the on-loan man missed a big chance in the clash at Villa Park, as well as failing to complete his two dribble attempts (0%), as per Sofascore. The Italian also picked up a yellow card just before the half-hour mark.
It wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world for the hosts, with the talented Leon Bailey waiting in the wings. The Jamaican international is more than capable of making an impact, as he has shown on several occasions under Emery.
Villa headed into the clash with the Hatters high on confidence, having defeated AZ Alkmaar 4-1 in the Europa Conference League on Thursday (26 October). That came after another 4-1 win in the Premier League against West Ham last Sunday (22 October), a match in which Bailey came off the bench to score.
Luton meanwhile headed to Villa Park on the back of a rare point, having drawn 2-2 at Nottingham Forest last Saturday (21 October).
The newly-promoted club have found it hard to deal with the step up from the Championship so far, with Luton struggling towards the bottom of the table.
In other Aston Villa news, Emery has created a double-figure “monster” at Villa Park, the player now leads the way in one statistic in Europe.
