Unai Emery might axe Aston Villa defender Matty Cash v Luton Town
Aston Villa defender Matty Cash may be dropped for the Premier League game against Luton Town on Sunday, 29 October.
The Poland international started the game against AZ Alkmaar in the Conference League on Thursday, 26 October, which the Villans won 4-1.
However, his performance was not particularly good and he got the lowest rating on the statistics website Sofascore from the Villa side.
The right-back was not confident on the ball either, with his pass accuracy being less than 80 per cent.
He also lost possession on 12 occasions and lost five out of eight ground duels which is not a good return for a defender.
Cash also completed just one dribble which means that even going forward he did not offer much of a threat.
Neither did the Poland international attempt a cross and that’s something the Spaniard wants from his wide players.
Even though full-backs are attack-minded, such flaws in his game may be exposed and Emery may look to try alternatives there against Luton.
Given where they are on the table, it should not be a game that the Spaniard should be scared to make a change in and drop Cash.
He could opt to play Ezri Konsa as he has in the past and that could be a move he goes for in the Premier League this weekend.
In other Aston Villa news, a first-team regular will not return to training for the next few weeks as Matt Law issues a fresh injury blow for Unai Emery.
