Injury Expert details Aston Villa ace Emi Buendia’s return to training
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa...
Aston Villa attacking midfielder Emiliano Buendia is not likely to return to first-team training before March, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that the Villa medics will gradually ramp up the intensity but his return this season does not seem to be on the cards.
It’s understood that the Argentine may not return to pre-injury levels until next season.

Speaking about his setback, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:
“I do not see him returning before March either.
“It looks like he won’t be back to normal until the beginning of the following season, but it’s crucial to strive towards his gradual recovery.
“The medical staff will carry out tests and then gradually ramp up intensity but still there is no way to guarantee he won’t experience setbacks.
“The average recovery duration from this injury is 7-9 months, and the recovery period to pre-injury levels is even longer.”

The 26-year-old’s versatility has seen him playing in a plethora of roles for the Villans since his move to Birmingham.
Last season, he played in every single league game – making 27 starts and 11 appearances off the bench.
However, before his injury, he did not make a single start or play a single minute of Premier League football.
His only two appearances came in the EFL Cup with him playing a grand total of 50 minutes.
