Aston Villa: ‘Horrible’ controversy something you’d expect from Sunday League
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Castore’s failure with the Aston Villa shirt was “horrible” and should not be expected from a Premier League team, according to Ty Bracey.
The kit manufacturer faced embarrassment when the new Villa shirt’s design and material gave it a sweaty look and added weight, impacting the player’s ability. The Daily Mail reported (29 September) that the English kit maker’s contract is set to be terminated early in the wake of the controversy, but that the issue could take weeks to resolve.
Castore has emerged as a disruptor in the kit manufacturing industry and creates shirts for Rangers and Newcastle United, but many have questioned how such a blunder could have been allowed to happen.

Bracey was left shocked by the mistake, suggesting that it is something expected from a Sunday league side rather than a Premier League team.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “It’s something that needed to be changed. The players have complained saying the shirt is weighing them down. If it’s enough for them to complain about then it needed to be sorted.
“It’s not something you expect from a kit maker really, and it only seems to be happening with our kit. It’s just not on. You know how it is when you get soaked wet through and how horrible it is. It took a bit of time but it can’t be easy for a kit supplier to change something like this.
“Especially at this level. It’s something you’d expect from Sunday league, not the Premier League. I’ve never seen anything like this before, it could only happen to Villa!”
In other Aston Villa news, a broadcaster has reacted to a “really important” update on an “integral” Villa Park star.
