We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa...

Aston Villa defender Alex Moreno is set to miss the game against West Ham on 22 October in the Premier League, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that there’s a chance for the Spaniard to return to first-team training at some point during the international break.

As things stand, the left-back is still not back which means that he’s still a while away from returning for Unai Emery’s side.

Speaking about his setback, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

Moreno suffered what sounds like a setback after he returned to group training.

The physios will have ratcheted his training intensity down and then ramped it back up.

It sounds like the hope is he can return to team training after the international break.

“However, he’s not going to be available for this game after such a long absence from training.

Moreno has not featured in the Premier League this season and he returned to training but his setback has delayed his potential return.

Until last season, he was Emery’s go to option at left-back but Lucas Digne has done exceptionally well in his place.

Even when fit, Emery is likely to opt for the Frenchman over Moreno as he’s proven he can be reliable over a number of games.

In other Aston Villa news, a first-team regular will not return to training for the next few weeks as Matt Law issues a fresh injury blow for Unai Emery.
