Pau Torres could be left out of Aston Villa XI v Zrinjski

We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park…

Pau Torres could be rested for Aston Villa versus Zrinjski Mostar in the Europa Conference League on Thursday, according to Alan Hutton.

Torres, 26, has played every minute of every Premier League game since Tyrone Mings’ injury at Newcastle on the opening day of the campaign.

However, the Spaniard was left as an unused substitute for the 3-2 defeat to Legia Warsaw in the Conference League on 21 September.

Hutton believes Emery could rotate his side again from the one that beat Brighton 6-1 at the weekend in order to avoid any more injuries to key first-team players.

When asked specifically if Torres could be rested, Hutton told Villa News: “Absolutely.

Emery could have that question mark over everybody.

There are normally a couple of changes here and there unless they play Saturday and Saturday.

We’ll have to see because with the likes of Mings out because you won’t want to pick up too many more injuries.

It’s very difficult to sit here and think what he’s going to do but I do believe there will be changes.”

Mings is expected to miss a lot of action this season while Diego Carlos last term showed that he’s prone to a long-term injury as well.

Torres joined Aston Villa from Villarreal for £31.5million in July.

In other Aston Villa news, Chelsea could hunt down a deal for this Villa Park ace after what Fabrizio Romano reported.
