‘A lot more to come’ from Youri Tielemans, yet to ‘hit his ceiling’ at Aston Villa

We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…

Youri Tielemans still has a lot more to show Aston Villa fans, but his hunger to succeed will hopefully see him earn more minutes, according to Ty Bracey.

In a rare starting opportunity for his new club, the Belgian was selected for Aston Villa’s return to European football, a dream that quickly turned into a nightmare as Unai Emery’s men suffered a shock 3-2 defeat against Legia Warszawa. Tielemans did not shower himself in glory in Poland, but the pedigree is certainly there for him to emerge as a crucial player at Villa Park.

In his substitute appearances in the Premier League, the former Leicester City midfielder has looked assured on the ball and has contributed to some of Villa’s excellent play. Against Crystal Palace, his through-ball to Moussa Diaby was perfect, leading to Leon Bailey’s game-settling strike late into stoppage time.

However, Bracey claims there is more to come from the 26-year-old, who is yet to “hit his ceiling”. However, when he does make his way onto the pitch, Bracey feels that he is doing all the right things and a more permanent role in the side could be on the horizon.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “He’s hungry to succeed. I don’t think he’s hit his ceiling, there is still a lot more to come from Tielemans. I hope he does get more minutes because he’s doing what’s expected of him.

“He’s getting involved with goals when he’s come onto the pitch, and that’s important.”

In other Aston Villa news, Dan Bardell has been wowed by a summer signing who does things he’s “never seen”.
