Aston Villa: Alex Moreno and Jacob Ramsey return ‘best thing’ about international break

We’re delighted to welcome Sky Sports journalist Dan Bardell as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…

Alex Moreno’s and Jacob Ramsey’s return to injury is the “best thing” about the international break for Aston Villa, while their return will “completely transform” the squad, according to Dan Bardell.

Both Moreno and Ramsey have been long-term absentees for the Villans, with the full-back undergoing surgery after a serious hamstring injury sustained back in May against Liverpool, while the midfielder broke his metatarsal in July while at the under-21 Euros with England.

The pair have been a significant loss for Unai Emery, and amid their issues on the pitch, their return will be a huge boost. With the international break giving clubs a breather, it offers Ramsey and Moreno the chance to focus on recovery with the full attention of the medical team and hopefully return to regular training.

Bardell has claimed this their return will be the “biggest plus” of the international break as their ability to impact how Villa attacks “transforms” Emery’s side.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “The biggest plus for Villa with the international break, coming when it has, is that it gives Alex Moreno and Jacob Ramsey a chance to get back.

“Moreno and Ramsey will be absolutely huge for Villa when they come back and it completely transforms the side and how Villa attack when they’re in the side.

“So having an extra two weeks with no games and potentially those two coming back into training, that’s the best thing about the international break.”
