'Massive' Nicolo Zaniolo causes excitement at Aston Villa after 'step up' from Galatasaray
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Nicolo Zaniolo is a “strong” player with “massive” ability, but his move from previous clubs to Aston Villa is “a huge step up”, according to Ty Bracey.
Awaiting his first appearance in claret and blue, the midfielder has come to Birmingham with high expectations following a promising career so far, despite his reoccurring injury issues.
As a fundamental cog in Jose Mourinho’s inaugural Europa Conference League-winning Roma side, Zaniolo brings European football experience and at just age 24, he still has bags of potential for Emery to unleash.
Bracey praised the Italian’s goalscoring and ability on the ball while suggesting his past injury concerns can be overcome. However, he notes that the step up to the Premier League with Aston Villa will be a significant one.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “Zaniolo is strong on the ball, I think that’s massive. He’s not afraid to take a player on and he’s very strong.
“He’s got a bit of character and I think what we need is that aggression. He scored the winning goal in Roma’s Europa Conference League final.
“Obviously he’s been riddled with injuries in the past, but you can get over those things and come back strong from them. I can see him going from Roma to Galatasaray to Villa, but it’s a huge step up.”
In other Aston Villa news, Sky Sports journalist Dan Bardell has praised the Villans’ new “unique” attacking option.
