Spotted: Image emerges of Nicolo Zaniolo in Solihull amid Aston Villa medical
Nicolo Zaniolo has been spotted in Solihull near Birmingham as he is set to undergo his Aston Villa medical ahead of a move to Villa Park.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano tweeted on 14 August that Villa had agreed a deal with Galatasaray to take the Italian midfielder on loan with an option-to-buy clause worth £23.1million included in the transfer.
An eagle-eyed Villans fan tweeted on 16 August a picture of the 24-year-old at a health clinic in Solihull after Romano confirmed the medical would take place on Wednesday.
Edging closer
It looks as though the deal to take Zaniolo to Villa is edging closer after he has been spotted at a local health facility ahead of his medical.
Unai Emery will be delighted to see the deal being close to completion as he has been desperate to get a replacement in for Emi Buendia, who faces eight months out with a knee injury.
It’s a relatively low-risk move by the Villans that could potentially have a huge upside for them, as they can activate the clause to secure him on a permanent deal if he does well during his loan.
The 6’3″ Italian could be the perfect man to fill the gap left by Buendia after he has scored five goals in 12 matches since making the move to Galatasaray from Roma in February of this year.
He will be another big-name signing through the door this summer at Villa after already bringing in Youri Tielemans, Pau Torres and Moussa Diaby.
In other Aston Villa news, the club have been in talks over a signing a World Cup-winning defender.
