'Outrageous' Moussa Diaby tipped for 20-plus goal contributions in Aston Villa debut season
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
New star signing Moussa Diaby could fire between 15 and 20 goal contributions in his debut Aston Villa season, according to Ty Bracey.
Following his £51.9million deal from Bayer Leverkusen [The Guardian], Diaby has been back to have a real impact at Villa Park with his goalscoring prowess and European experience alongside new signings Pau Torres and Youri Tielemans.
Diaby is prolific in Europe earning 11 goal contributions in 22 European appearances in the last two seasons. With Villa making their first appearance in Europe for 13 years, his experience could prove essential if the club want to go deep in the Europa Conference League.
Bracey claims that the Frenchman’s “outrageous” pace and ability could see him land up to 20 contributions across all competitions next season, which will help improve his new teammates.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “He’ll be somebody who assists a lot of goals for Watkins. He’s not afraid to take a player on and he’s got outrageous pace. I think that’s what we’ve needed, someone who can take on a player and put the ball into the box.
“I think we’ll see a lot of goals and assists from him this season, I really do. He’s done in it in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen but the Premier League is a different ballgame, so it might take him a bit of time to settle.
“He’s joined at a good time during pre-season. He’s only missed two games, but he’s joined the squad very early on and been in training.
“I predict that he’ll have between 15 and 20 goal contributions, I definitely think he’s got that in his locker.
“He’s a massive addition and I think Emery will get the best out of him. He came through the PSG youth system when Emery was there. Emery has had his eye on him for a while and he fits the profile of the position that he wants filled.
“I really hope he will be an important part of that. Having European experience too, he will know all about it. He’s played at the highest level of European football, so I think he’s a great addition.”
In other Aston Villa news, the club are interested in securing the services of a Champions League-winning free agent this summer.
