Emi Martinez 'offers everything' and is worth '£80million-plus' to Aston Villa as Inter Milan bid emerges
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Emi Martinez is worth at least £80million to Aston Villa as he “offers everything” the club need from their goalkeeper, according to Ty Bracey.
The Argentine has been linked with a move to Inter Milan, but Villa have reportedly rejected that initial £12.8million offer to replace Andre Onana [TyC Sport].
Martinez has proved himself in the Premier League after his £17million switch from Arsenal in 2020 [Sky Sports] and with another four years remaining on his contract, the Villa board would be unlikely to sell at that price.
Bracey himself values the World Cup winner much higher than Inter does and claims his performances under Emery and his attributes make him tough to replace.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I think he’s £80million plus before we even entertain a conversation, if I’m honest.
“It’s not necessarily what a player’s value is, you have to look at the situation. What’s the cost of replacing a World Cup-winning goalkeeper? I genuinely believe that he’s not for sale.
“He’s a sweeper keeper, he’s a leader, he’s great in one-on-one situations. His distribution is good and he offers everything that we’ve needed.
“He fits well in Unai Emery’s system and I’d like to see him stay. Emery likes a goalkeeper that’s a little bit of a sweeper and he definitely has added that to his game in more recent times under Unai.
“We’re always so comfortable at the back when he’s in goal. Obviously, we play a lot of football out from the back.
“He just looks so comfortable playing out from the back, he’s a cool, calm and collected leader in my opinion.”
In other Aston Villa news, Sky Sports journalist Dan Bardell has made a strong prediction about one of the club’s finest youngsters, and he’s “all for it”.
