Sky Sports journalist tips Unai Emery-admired Kadan Young for first-team chance
We’re delighted to welcome Sky Sports journalist Dan Bardell as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Aston Villa youth star Kadan Young’s impressive pre-season so far has set him up for first team action next season, according to Dan Bardell.
The 17-year-old has been an influencial figure in Villa’s youth set up, clinching two goals and five assists from the left wing and has been in and around the first team with five Premier League bench apperances last season.
Villa fans most recently saw him in action against Walsall on Saturday (15 July) when he enjoyed a 25 minute cameo in their 1-1 pre-season draw.

Bardell claims that the youngster could be within touching distance of his first-team debut next season after showing exciting hints of brilliance for Villa.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I was impressed with Kadan Young against Walsall, he looked really lively. He’s got incredible pace, he just knocked the ball 15 yards in front of him and ran onto it and picked it up.
“He looked really good and was one of the first youth players that Emery involved in the match day squad and had around the first team.“
Young has also been included in Villa’s pre-season squad for the Premier League Summer Series in the United States, meaning he has more opportunities to send a message to Unai Emery.
However, the teeneager still has plenty of time ahead of him to show Villa fans what he is capable and only signed his first professional contract in January [Aston Villa] after being a regular in the club’s under-21 side.

If he contiues performing above his level, the Premier League may only be around the corner.
In other Aston Villa news, Bardell has made a stong claim about injury-hampered centre-back Diego Carlos’ future at the club.
