Writing on the wall for Marvelous Nakamba exit at Aston Villa as talks underway for transfer

We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park

The writing is on the wall for Marvelous Nakamba at Aston Villa, according to Alan Hutton.

Nakamba, 29, spent the second half of last season on loan at Luton Town, helping them win promotion from the Championship to the Premier League as play-off winners.

The Zimbabwe international was instrumental in Luton’s return to England’s top-flight and, according to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas on 28 June, the Hatters are in talks to sign the midfielder.

It is understood that the Bedfordshire club are finding it hard to match Nakamba’s wages, meaning they could sign the former Club Brugge midfielder on loan again.

Hutton believes it’s likely that Nakamba will be sold for good as his loan move to Luton last season proved that he’s not going to make it in Villa’s first team under Unai Emery.

“The likes of Nakamba and ]Morgan[ Sanson, these guys [could be sold],” Hutton told Villa News.

They’re bringing in [Youri] Tielemans and will probably look to bring in somebody else as well.

They’re relatively strong in those areas.

Nakamba went out on loan to Luton and I think that at his age, the writing’s on the wall a little bit. If I’m 26 or 27 and being sent out on loan by a club, there’s a reason behind it. It probably is time for him to move on.

We’ll have to wait and see but obviously Nakamba played a lot of football last season.

He’ll be hoping that teams are looking at him. If they do get an offer, I think they’ll take it.”

Speaking to Villa News on 28 May, Sky Sports’ Dan Bardell predicted that Emery will get rid of Nakamba on a permanent basis this summer due to the fact he doesn’t rate the Zimbabwean midfielder.

Bardell claimed that Villa could go as far as ripping up the Luton promotion hero’s contract so he can make a permanent move to Kenilworth Road or elsewhere.

In other Aston Villa news, Monchi is already said to be in talks behind the scenes with this Villa Park man.
