No turning back as Monchi exit set as Aston Villa close in on appointment

There is no turning back for Monchi at Sevilla ahead of his proposed move to Aston Villa, according to Orgullo Di Nervion.

It has been reported by the Spanish outlet on 15 June that the La Liga club are demanding that his exit fee be paid, despite hopes that it could be waived.

Aston Villa need to pay £ 2.1 million to get the move officially sorted, something that may happen soon with things moving very quickly, it seems.

It is said that the compensation is the final hurdle for both Aston Villa and Sevilla.

The Spanish club want their replacement for Monchi to be announced immediately once he has gone, so there should be nothing much holding this up.

Unai Emery will likely be the driving force behind this deal, given the fact that they have worked together so successfully in the past.

Sevilla and their Europa League hoodoo over opponents that sees them win it every year, it seems, is proof that the potential new arrival could be a massive appointment.

For a fee of around £2million too, that is nothing in this current market given the money that is brought in through Premier League revenues every single year at Villa Park.

With Sevilla wanting to get this one over and done with quickly, there should be no final hurdles to cross for Villa if they simply stump up the cash.

An announcement may be expected before the end of the week should everything go swimmingly, and with Aston Villa chiefs jetting across to Spain already, that should help.
