Aston Villa transfer news as Nice want to sign Lucas Digne this summer

Nice want to sign Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne this summer with a potential exit now on the cards, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition [June 07, pg 53] that the Frenchman is a specific target for the Ligue 1 club, who already have Kasper Schmeichel and Aaron Ramsey.

Unai Emery is already thinking of incomings though at Villa Park, with Villareal defender Pau Torres and new free-agent Youri Tielemans already targets.

Alex Moreno has been signed by Emery already, but the Spaniard has picked up a serious injury and is facing a long-term absence, so that could come into the thinking here.

Digne is a big earner at Villa Park, so getting him off the books could help with new targets ahead of the return to European football next season.

Consider?

Emery will be looking at his squad and the areas that need to be improved ahead of what could be a massive season for the Villans next time out.

With more commitments in Europe for this squad on top of the Premier League and cup competitions, the squad will need adding too, rather than players being taken away.

Money could be better used by getting Digne off the books though, and bringing in a younger talent who would not expect to be playing every week when Moreno may get the nod.

NSWE will make money available to spend this summer, and with central defenders also wanted, it may be hard to justify letting go of another defensive option.

One thing for sure is that change is coming at Villa Park, and players will make way for new transfers to come in and really make a difference for Emery and his team.
