Aston Villa transfer news: Dani Parejo eyes Unai Emery reunion in potential La Liga blitz with Ferran Torres and Giovani Lo Celso
Aston Villa have been “sounded out” over a possible move for veteran pass-master Dani Parejo with the Villarreal man eyeing a return to the Premier League, the Daily Mail reports.
The 34-year-old already has a relationship with Villans boss Unai Emery from their time in Spain together, and after a brief spell on loan at QPR from Real Madrid 15 years ago is looking to have another crack at English football.
But the Spanish international midfielder is also in the sights of other clubs who are reportedly “weighing up a move”.
Parejo is the latest La Liga name linked to a Villa Park transfer, with Emery also after fellow Villarreal man Giovani Lo Celso, on loan from Tottenham, and Barcelona’s former Manchester City forward Ferran Torres, with a potential haul from southern Europe on the cards.
Ambitious
Emery has already worked wonders since he took over from Steven Gerrard and after the former manager was backed in the transfer market it would seem that his successor has more than earned the same support.
An increase in technicality is reported to be at the heart of the type of targets the Aston Villa boss is looking at according to the Mail, so it could be a new-look line-up next season if he gets all of what he wants.
Parejo is unlikely to be expensive at his age and with just a year left on his current contract this summer, so the link between him and Emery surely puts the club in pole position to land him if the manager gives the green light.
Lo Celso appears to be surplus to requirements at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium having been let leave on loan, but whoever comes in there for the new campaign may have a different view of matters.
Torres is unlikely to come cheap having only left for Barca in January 2022, but the turnover of players at the Camp Nou has been high in recent seasons, with the likes of Memphis Depay, Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang and Adama Traore all coming and going in various guises in the past two seasons.
So if the cash is available then there is reason to believe that it isn’t unrealistic to see all three head to Villa, as Emery gets his first offseason opportunity to truly mould the squad in his image.
In other Aston Villa news, a big-name Ollie Watkins-style forward is also on the agenda in what promises to be a busy summer.
