Unai Emery told to sign more players at Aston Villa as starting XI v Fulham predicted

We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park

Alan Hutton doesn’t see Unai Emery making many changes – if any at all – to the Aston Villa starting line-up to play Fulham at Villa Park on Tuesday night.

Emery’s men are flying right now in the Premier League having gone unbeaten in nine games, picking up seven wins in that run.

The Villa manager has played a fairly consistent side through that run, only making the odd enforced change due to injury issues.

But even with the fixture congestion caused by this week’s mid-week fixtures, Hutton doesn’t expect to see Emery rotating the Villa squad because he doesn’t have too many options outside of his starting line-up.

Speaking to Villa News, Hutton said: “To be honest, I don’t think Emery has that many options at this moment in time.

With injuries, the likes of Kamara, Dendoncker has come in and McGinn has moved out wide and with Bailey out, Traore has come back in now and then to score a couple of important goals.

Emery likes to keep the back-four and the goalkeeper the same as much as possible and with Ramsey playing at a good level, I don’t see too many changes.

It’s probably the one thing that Villa need to correct moving forward is to add to their strength in depth.

I know they have their injuries but they need to get more players in of quality.”

Fulham make their way to Villa Park having won their last two Premier League games against Everton and Leeds.

The West London side is currently ninth in the table, six points behind sixth-placed Villa, who can move up to fifth – above Tottenham – with all three points against Marco Silva’s men.

In other Aston Villa news, Christian Purslow is keeping his promise to the squad after a player arrived at Bodymoor Heath ahead of a potential transfer.
