Aston Villa fluke rubbished as influencer shares top-six verdict in Premier League
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Ty Bracey believes the stunning recent form of Aston Villa is no fluke and that the club can compete for a top-six finish next season if they have a productive transfer window.
Since the sacking of Steven Gerrard in the Villa Park dugout and the arrival of Emery, Aston Villa have picked up the third most amount of points in the Premier League, only failing to win as many as title-chasing duo Manchester City and Arsenal.
Wins over the likes of Manchester United, Spurs, Chelsea and Newcastle have underpinned the remarkable transformation under the former Arsenal boss, with Villa currently sitting just two points off fifth-placed Spurs with five games of their season remaining.

According to reports, Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris are expected to grant Emery a sizeable war chest for the upcoming summer transfer window, with additions in wide attacking areas and further depth in midfield expected to be some of his priorities. [Birmingham Mail, 11 March]
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Aston Villa influencer Bracey admitted that this rich vein in form was no fluke and that the West Midlands club can be serious top-six candidates next season if they have a positive summer transfer window.
“Assuming Villa have a productive transfer window, there is no reason why the club can’t push for a top six or a top seven finish next year, I really don’t,” said Bracey.
“I think if we carry on the way we’re going, get the reinforcements we need and the quality and the depth this summer, there is no reason why we can’t reach around the top-six next year.
“I don’t think this is a fluke that we are playing this well.
“Since Emery arrived, we are controlling so many more games than we were under Gerrard.
“I don’t think it’s a fluke whatsoever.”

If Aston Villa harbour ambitions to nick an elusive Europa League or Europa Conference League spot at the end of the season, they will have to do it the hard way.
Emery’s team still have to face direct competitors Manchester United, Spurs, Liverpool and Brighton in their last five games of the Premier League season.
