Aston Villa attacker Leon Bailey out with Grade 1 hamstring tear as training update emerges – Injury Expert

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa...

Leon Bailey has been missing in action for Aston Villa due to a hamstring injury, which appears to be a Grade 1 tear, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert believes that he’s also got a high risk of re-injury once fit as it’s his hamstring and that will come in a lot of use given the role he plays.

Bailey, 25, is a pacey player who enjoys taking on players and running with the ball at his feet, which would need the Villa medical team to monitor his fitness closely.

Birmingham Live reported on 13 April that Bailey had returned to training just a week after his hamstring injury.

Speaking about his return this season, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News, “He returned to training a few days ago so it certainly isn’t a season-ender.

“Based on what I’m seeing and hearing, it’s a mild Grade 1 tear and the key is always preventing re-injury, particularly for pacey players like Bailey where the hamstrings come under more demand.”

Bailey has been a regular for Villa this season both under Steven Gerrard as well as Unai Emery.

He has played 29 games, of which he’s been named in the playing eleven on 23 occasions.

His last appearance for the Villans came at the start of April, in the 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest, where he ended up injuring his hamstring.

In other Aston Villa news, a senior player may never feature for the club again after recent news emerges, making a summer exit very much on the cards.
