UEFA can take Aston Villa windfall after Sky Sports share EURO 2028 news – Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist, he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Aston Villa.

Dan Plumley has insisted that UEFA will take the majority of the windfall, not Aston Villa, if the United Kingdom are successful in their bid to host EURO 2028.

Sky Sports has reported that Villa Park is among the stadiums in the bid, with the development of the stadium also potentially done by that time.

If successful, Villa Park would only benefit the club through exposure on a global level and people visiting the clubs shop as well as the future potential to host other events.

“UEFA would take the ticket money,” he exclusively told Villa News.

“So, that’s ringfenced off and we’re not sure how they work it with catering and hospitality but you’ll imagine there will be a cut there. The general take is that financially UEFA will benefit more than Aston Villa, for example.

“The wider benefit of the exposure of the ground around the world, the stadium redevelopment and showcasing that and obviously then putting yourself in the frame to host other events in the future and the knock-on effect to the local economy with tourism and people visiting the shop.

“You’re playing on two things, tourism exposure and also a little bit of bidding for other events, that’s where I would see the benefits. Financially, UEFA will take the bulk of that.”

It is no surprise to see that UEFA could take all, if not most of the money, but it still goes to show the magnificent job that NSWE are doing at the very top.

With plans to redevelop the famous Villa Park, these huge spectacles could become a thing of the future, and we already cannot wait to see that happen.

In other Aston Villa news, the future of this loanee hangs in the balance as contract talks await.
