Injury Expert blasts ignorant pundit over Matty Cash conspiracy theory at Aston Villa

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa...

Matty Cash may not be back in action soon after sustaining an injury and could miss Aston Villa’s clash against Brentford on 22 April, claims Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert also spoke out in defence of the Poland international after he was attacked during the international break for faking an injury.

Former Poland international Tomek Hajto said on Polish television that he thought the 25-year-old fabricated an injury to avoid playing.

He said that Cash sustained a mere strain and not something as serious as a tear or torn fibres in his leg.

Setting the record straight, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News, “The claim was always nonsensical especially when you read the actual quotes – Hajto is speaking from a complete position of ignorance on what is happening, protocol, what a muscle strain is, etc.

“Other than potential time-wasting or trying to slow down an attack or get control of a match, not sure where that claim came from other than conspiratorial thinking not rooted in reality.

“He’s still a doubt to return v Brentford.”

The 25-year-old has been a regular for the Villans this season, playing in 23 Premier League games.

Since sustaining an injury in March, Cash has not been seen in action for Unai Emery’s side.

The last time he turned out for his club in the Premier League was on 18 March when Villa cruised to victory against Bournemouth by a 3-0 scoreline.

In other Aston Villa news, a senior player may never feature for the club again after recent news emerges, making a summer exit very much on the cards.
