View: Aston Villa predicted XI v Manchester City: Matty Cash to return, four changes made

Aston Villa face a daunting trip to Manchester City as Unai Emery’s side look to put their 4-2 defeat to Leicester City behind them.

It was a tough day at the office for the Villans and we anticipate the Spaniard to make a number of changes to the side that lost to the Foxes.

Ashley Young was forced off with an injury at half time and it seems likely that Matty Cash will be given the chance to start from the outset after finding himself out of contention.

On the other side of the defence, Lucas Digne could well be replaced after being hooked off at halftime. That could see Alex Moreno return after losing his starting berth against Brendan Rodgers’ side. Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings will almost certainly remain the central defensive partnership, with Emi Martinez in goal.

Douglas Luiz and Boubacar Kamara have been a constant in midfield under Emery and it’s highly likely both players will start despite John McGinn returning from injury. Another change that could occur is in attacking midfield. Jacob Ramsey was subbed at halftime against Leicester and there’s a good chance Philippe Coutinho replaces the 21-year-old in the starting eleven.

Leon Bailey also endured a tough afternoon’s work and could well be replaced by Jhon Duran, who could be in line to make his full Aston Villa debut. Fixtures at The Etihad are about as hard as you can get in the Premier League and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Spaniard adopt a more conservative system in order to reduce the number of chances City create.

In other Aston Villa news, Carla Ward must find a contingency plan in case Rachel Daly gets injured for her women’s side this season.
