Finance Expert reacts as Aston Villa sponsorship deal with BK8 reportedly agreed

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist, he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Aston Villa

Dan Plumley has insisted that Premier League clubs take the best offers on the table as Aston Villa are said to have agreed a new sponsorship deal with BK8.

The Daily Mail reported on January 13 that a three-year deal is said to have been agreed upon, despite anger from fans who have demanded a rethink at Villa Park.

The Finance Expert admitted that clubs take the best money when it comes so they can compete as best as they can on the pitch in the Premier League.

“It’s one of those where you see the story and you’re not surprised it,” he exclusively told Villa News.

“It’s time and time again we have seen this at individual clubs linked to all manners of sponsors that we think are not the type of companies that should be sponsoring football clubs, but they’re the ones that want to and they’re the ones that are putting the cash on the table and the clubs have to take the best offers on the table financially.

“That’s the rat race they are in, and it’s no different here. Absolutely no surprise to see this, completely understand the moral argument and I agree with that in principle, but the clubs are taking the best offers on the table and nothing more.

“You have to take that money when it is there to be able to compete as best as you can on the pitch.”

NSWE will come under the spotlight if this is announced and becomes official.

Of course, they may only care about the financial aspect of the deal, but there is much more than that to deal with in modern-day football, hopefully, they recognise that.

In other Aston Villa news, a 17-year-old academy prospect has signed his first professional contract with the club.
