Dan Plumley: Aston Villa owners financing Villa Park redevelopment benefits club massively
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist, he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Aston Villa.
Dan Plumley has insisted that Aston Villa could massively benefit from NSWE personally funding the redevelopment of Villa Park after plans were confirmed.
The Finance Guru admitted that given the ownership model they have operated under in the past, it is likely that they may well fund it themselves in the years to come.
It means that the club would not be seeking external investment, similar to other Premier League clubs such as Everton, and that avoids repayments of loans and big interest payments down the line.

“You’re always second guessing a little bit,” he exclusively told Villa News.
“If you look at the model they have operated under, we have quite a few injections of equity over a period of time from those owners, rather than looking at investment.
“So, given the figures that are being talked about, I think they might just do this by funding it themselves through some kind of similar process that they’ve done in the past.
“If they do that, it has some real benefits to the club because it means that they are not seeking external investment, you’re not dealing with interest payments or repayments of loans further down the line, the owners are committed to the project and would fund that themselves.

“I would think that would be what I’d guess at the moment, but that’s based on how they’ve previously run the club.”
