Alan Hutton: Morgan Sanson not finished at Aston Villa under Unai Emery
We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park.
Alan Hutton believes Morgan Sanson has a future at Aston Villa after being given some much-needed game time under Unai Emery.
Sanson has barely featured in the 2022/23 season but saw his first minutes of the season in Emery’s first game against Manchester United.
Hutton feels this is a sign that the 28-year-old could come back into contention under the Spaniard after being left out in the cold under Steven Gerrard.

“If you would have asked me before Unai Emery came in I would’ve said he was done and dusted,” Hutton exclusively told Villa News.
“It looked like it was time to move on but I think it was the Manchester United game he came on as a substitute and I was thinking fair play to the manager. He’s obviously a talented player but it’s just not quite worked out for him, but Emery will want to have a look at everybody.
“It’s really up to himself now and he’s probably low on confidence but the manager has shown a little bit of faith in him giving him this opportunity.
“He will either fight for his place or he will move on after what has been a difficult couple of seasons for him.”

Sanson will be looking to impress during the World Cup break, with his big-money move to Villa Park really not working out.
Emery will be getting to know the players he has to work with and this could well be a chance for the Frenchman to play his way back into contention.
In other Aston Villa news, Bracey believes Robin Olsen hasn’t been good enough and the club needs a replacement back-up keeper.
